Orme Court - WIP

This project is currently being developed. 

Number 2 and 3 Orme Court in Bayswater, London is a comprehensive refurbishment project, commissioned by Dawliffe Hall Educational Foundation (DHEF). 

The design aims to restore the original character of these 19th-century buildings while addressing contemporary requirements. Allowing for improved accessibility, fire safety, and sustainability.

The proposal includes the restoration of the unified façade facing Bayswater Road, the introduction of new lifts and staircases, and the removal of outdated external fire escapes.

Internally, the project prioritises the preservation of significant historical features, such as the principal rooms on the first floor, while reconfiguring the layout to accommodate modern residential and communal spaces.

DESIGN

The rear façades will be harmonised under a cohesive design, complemented by green roof terraces to enhance environmental performance.

Sustainable measures are integral to the design, with improved insulation, renewable energy sources, and enhanced daylighting ensuring the buildings meet current standards while respecting its historical context.

Sabbadin Corti Architects has been appointed to assist with the construction and redesign of part of the building through RIBA Stages 4 and 5. This project represents a thoughtful and innovative approach to heritage conservation, seamlessly blending historical integrity with the demands of contemporary urban living.
