Wandsworth House

Commissioned by a young couple, this refurbishment reanimates a traditional Victorian house that suffered from poor natural light. Using light as both the existing problem, but also the means to resolve it, our design was orientated by considering light as an additional material.

The corridor establishes a strong relationship between the entrance, living space and private rear garden while also concealing a WC, amenities and access to a cellar.

Fitted with a motion activated light, the oak-cladded staircase connects the ground floor to the five bedrooms above, with at least one bathroom on each floor.

The living space features two in-built sculptural benches that define the dining space, finished like the rest of the home, in a warm material palette. Our design clarified the layout creating spaces that allow occasions to be framed with intimacy and significance.
