Queen’s Park Flat

We were approached by a property developer who wanted to revive an outdated one bedroom garden flat with a contemporary approach and add a second bedroom. Working within tight fiscal constraints, we achieved the aims of the project with careful design decisions and an economy of means.

To allow for a generous open-plan kitchen and living space the bedrooms were moved to the front of the home. The garden was lowered to house-level to soften the threshold between the inside and outside spaces and conserve budget.

The rear façade is designed with a symmetrical colonnade that uses painted white bricks and concrete tiles that border the lintel of the aluminium windows. This use of material achieves a contrast to the timber fencing that encloses a quiet decked garden.
